blog#4 The separation of church and state

The first amendment is clearly protecting religion form the state, but it also separates religion from the government completely. And that is one of the strongest reasons that make the united state the best country on the world. Many people from all over the world with different religions choose to come to the united state because of the first amendment. The first amendment protects religion from government by the many laws that are preventing the government from making new rules that will conflict with other people’s believes. For instance the government can not make a law that stop people from practicing their prayers. But the government did make a law that prevents prayer at public school which mean student do not have to pray at school under one religion believe; but the student have the right to pray by there own or the way they believe on. The government is protecting and eliminating the religion at the same time. Another words you can practice you religion but you cannot enforce it for ever one. Also the first amendment is protecting all other religions or other believes. On this country there are many different religion and believes that are different than Christianity. Also there are different believes on each religion about drinking, eating and so on. And by separating church from state people grantee that the government will not support any religion over other religions and that will make people feel equal even though they have different believes. Therefore I believe separating church from government was an excellent idea that made people realize the freedom of religion on this country.

Othman,

You made many good points in your blog. The way you described the freedom of religion and speech served as a reminder of why some come to the United States and the importance of having it. Your opinions definitely were right on.

I completely agree with you. Religion is being protected by state according to the First Amendment. I really liked what you had to say about government not having the choice to choose a religion over another, and how that creates equality for all the different religions. Great Job!

Excellent points about Church and State. Your right, the first ammendment does distinguish the U.S and casue more people to bring their religions here, because they are not suppressed to practice any particular religion.
